Car rental requirements in Dubai
There is no online checkout and no dates required to get started. Tell your Luma Advisor which car you are interested in over WhatsApp, and they will confirm your best rate, availability, and everything below in that conversation. Here is what to prepare and what to expect.
Documents you need
UAE residents
If you are a UAE resident, you will need your Emirates ID and your UAE driving licence. Your Luma Advisor will tell you exactly how to share these and will review them before your reservation is confirmed.
- Emirates ID
- UAE driving licence
Tourists and visitors
- Passport
- Driving licence
If you are visiting the UAE, you will need your passport and your driving licence.
Whether a foreign driving licence is accepted on its own, or whether an International Driving Permit is also required, depends on the country that issued your licence. Message us on WhatsApp and your Luma Advisor will confirm what is accepted before your pickup, and how to share your documents.
What your Luma Advisor confirms before you book
Nothing is left to assumption. Before you commit to anything, your Luma Advisor confirms with you directly:
- the selected vehicle and whether the listing permits a comparable alternative;
- your rental dates and duration;
- the final price, including VAT;
- the mileage allowance;
- insurance and excess;
- the partial rental payment (30%) or full payment option;
- delivery and collection arrangements;
- any additional-driver requirements;
- any optional extras you add.
The 30% option is a partial rental payment, not a security deposit โ the remaining 70% is due at handover. Your Luma Advisor will tell you which payment options apply to your vehicle and how to complete payment securely.
During and after your rental
The exact amounts and conditions for everything below appear in your rental agreement. We explain them clearly before you book โ we do not surprise you with them afterwards.
Salik and road tolls
Dubai uses the Salik electronic toll system. How tolls are handled during your rental is set out in your rental agreement.
Traffic fines
Any traffic fines incurred during your rental period are your responsibility. The handling and any administration are described in your rental agreement.
Fuel or charging
The fuel or charging policy โ how the car is provided and how it should be returned โ is confirmed in your rental agreement.
Extensions
Need the car for longer? Message us on WhatsApp before your return date and we will confirm whether an extension is possible and on what terms.
Late return
Returning later than agreed can affect the next arrangement for the vehicle. Any late-return conditions are set out in your rental agreement, so tell us as early as you can if your plans change.
Damage reporting
If anything happens to the car, contact us on WhatsApp as soon as possible. The reporting steps and your responsibilities are described in your rental agreement.
Who your rental is with
The rental contract is between Luma Car Rental LLC and you, the customer. Luma handles your booking, payment, communication, and the whole rental from start to finish.
